Andrew Schroeder is one of today’s most versatile singers, performing in repertoire that ranges from Monteverdi to Benjamin and Sondheim.

Most recently, he sang Bernstein’s Songfest with the MDR Sinfonieorchester Leipzig and Kristjan Järvi, Beethoven’s Symphony no 9 at the Musikfestspiele Potsdam and Stravinsky’s Les Noces with Ensemble Vocale Lausanne and Daniel Reuss, appeared as The Protector in George Benjamin's Written on Skin, directed by Nicola Raab, at the Fondazione Haydn di Bolzano, as Judge Turpin in Sweeney Todd and Forrester in The Cunning Little Vixen, both at La Monnaie, King Hidraot in Lully’s Armide at the Opéra national de Lorraine, with Les Talens Lyrique under Christophe Rousset, and Captain of the Royal Guard in Henze’s Die Bassariden at Teatro dell'Opera di Roma.

Other opera engagements include the title role in Eugene Onegin at The Royal Opera House Covent Garden and Théâtre du Capitole de Toulouse, Falke in Die Fledermaus at the Opéra Bastille, the title role in Henze’s Der Prinz von Homburg at the Spoleto Festival USA, the title role in Enescu’s Oedipe at La Monnaie in Brussels and at Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires, Grand Prêtre and Dieu Infernal in Gluck’s Alceste at the Festival in Aix-en-Provence with Ivor Bolton, Thoas in Iphigénie en Tauride at the Theater an der Wien, under Harry Bicket, Agamemnon in Iphigénie en Aulide with La Monnaie, under Christophe Rousset, the title role in Mozart’s Don Giovanni with Oper Stuttgart and Sydney Opera House, the title role in Chausson’s Le Roi Arthus and Jupiter in Platée at the Opéra National du Rhin in Strasbourg, the title role in Chausson’s Le Roi Arthus and The Captain in J. In concert, he has sung Mahler’s Lieder eines Fahrenden Gesellen with the SWR Sinfonieorchester Baden-Baden und Freiburg under Michael Gielen, as well as the Bamberger Symphoniker, Dvorak’s Te Deum with the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, Bach’s Matthäus-Passion with the Konzerhausorchester Berlin and Iván Fischer, the Fauré Requiem with the Brussels Philharmonic, Dvorak’s Mass in D major with the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, Créon and the Messenger in Stravinsky’s Oedipus Rex at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam with Markus Stenz, 8 Scènes de Faust by Berlioz under Jeffrey Tate at La Fenice, Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem under Pinkas Steinberg with the Spanish RTVE Orchestra, Orff’s Carmina Burana with the Minnesota Orchestra and Eiji Oue, Roland in Schubert’s Fierrabras with Bard Music Festival in New York, Copland and Gershwin songs with Het Residentie Orkest in The Hague, MacMillan’s St. John Passion with the Brussels Philharmonic, Der Bauer in Schoenberg's Gurrelieder with conductor Reinbert de Leeuw, Faust in Schumann’s Szenen aus Goethes Faust at New York’s Avery Fischer Hall and Adams’ The Wound-Dresser and Copland’s Old American Songs with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra.
Highlights in 2018/19 include the title role in Bluebeard’s Castle at Aalto Theater Essen, Beethoven’s Symphony no 9 with Het Gelders Orkest and a return to La Monnaie as Dr Walton/Prosecutor in Mark Grey’s opera Frankenstein, a production by La Fura dels Baus.

Andrew Schroeder has recorded the title role in Le Roi Arthus on Telarc, Pia De’ Tolomei is available on CD/DVD through Dynamic, Roberto Devereux on CD/DVD with Naxos and the recording of Le Nez has been released on Suissa.
